On occasion, I have a meal so pleasing to my palette
that I just can't get it out of my mind. So I fantasize about it. In order to qualify, it must be a complete meal,
not just any old food item. Otherwise you'd be hearing about Italian gelato (which, lets face it, I could make a meal
out of), creamed spinach from Benedict's, a very special hot salsa from Freebird, and a variety of other "little" things.
But, the following places are restuarants I wish I had the
budget to fly to on a weekly basis and consume JUST THIS.
Foods I Still Fantasize About
Grilled Octopus and Tzatziki at Zorba's, Athens, Greece
Supreme Pizza, hold the sausage, add black olives, Vitale's
Sports Bar, Grand Rapids, MI
Calamari Salad from Il Duo, Phnom Penh, Cambodia (and maybe
the cannoli for dessert)
A big ole pot of Gramma's Mussels at Morel's in Beijing, China
Chicken on a stick and corn on the cob from street vendors
in Bangkok, Thailand
HUGE grilled scallops (think saucer size) from Andy's Place
in Tokyo, Japan
Red Snapper done on the grill, on the beach, in Jimbaran,
Bali
Scallops and Broccoli from Hong Kee restaurant, Chung Chau
Island, Hong Kong
Fresh Mussels served in pepper sauce from The Fig Tree in
Rome, Italy
2 Big Fat Porkchops with asian coleslaw and garlic mashed
potatoes from the Seoul Pub in Itaewon, Korea
Steak Night at the Whitehall. A large fillet for two
done medium rare, drenched in a mustard cream sauce, served on a hot skillet, accompanied by a lovely salad, delicious brushetta,
chicken wings (!), hashbrown potatoes and a fresh vegetable, topped off with Mounds dessert - for free, in Tel Aviv, Israel
